| On February 21, 2003 Belarus Post will issue a souvenir sheet dedicated to the 125th birth anniversary of Kazimir Malevich. Artistic design: Vladimir Terentyev & Yuriy Toreev. Colour: full colour. Paper: chalk surfaced. Printing process: offset. Perforation: comb 13½: 13½. Size: stamp — 28x30 mm; souvenir sheet — 82x52 mm. Print quantity: 20.000 copies. There are elements of protection on the stamps. MOTIF: the souvenir sheet commemorates the 125th birth anniversary of Kasimir Severinovich MALEVICH (23.02.1878, near Kiev — 15.05.1935) who was a belarusian and russian painter. He was one of the founders of abstract art and the founder of suprematism. He is the author of such famous works as: "Black Square" (1915), "Red Square" (1917), "White Square on a white background" (1919) and others. In 1919-1922 K. S. Malevich was a teacher at Vitebsk People's Art School in Belarus. In 1922 he moved to Leningrad, where he lived for the rest of his life. |
